Tasha was born in Vancouver, lived in Montreal for a while, and found her way back to the city a few years ago. When she first got back and was looking for volunteer opportunities she developed a secret crush on YouthCO. In 2009 she finally got the courage to get involved. It turned out to be a lot easier than she thought it would be and she started volunteering with the Theatre Troupe. Once that happened she was hooked and head over heels in love with this place. A year later she started working with the Sexual Health Program and is now loving that too!
Tasha enjoys exploring how creativity and social change overlap and has worked with youth using art, film, theatre and new media to support conflict resolution, empowerment and leadership. Before coming to YouthCO she worked with other youth and non-profit organizations doing things like: facilitating workshops with youth on HIV, child rights, and anti-oppression; providing support to survivors of sexual assault and relationship violence; and assisting refugee claimants arriving in Canada.
Tasha is an aspiring seamstress. She speaks English, French and Punjabi to varying degrees. She loves earrings, travel (so far she has been to India, the UK, Japan, Kenya, Cuba, Mauritius, Rwanda, South Africa and Uganda), dancing, fixing stuff, and wearing flip-flops.
